Major regional central banks begin an easing cycle

A monetary easing cycle is now under way in the region, with several major countries cutting rates in recent weeks, including Chile (in June), Brazil (July), Mexico (August) and Peru (also August). In addition, several smaller countries, such as Paraguay, Costa Rica and Jamaica, have cut rates this year too.
