Farage condemns foreign aid funding Argentina's fighter jets as Falklands claim continues
The outspoken Brexiteer questioned their funding, claiming they used it to buy fighter jets, which could eventually be used in another war to lay claim to the British overseas territory.
Mr Farage’s LBC rant comes after a Whitehall spending watchdog found overseas aid of more than £12billion is not being properly monitored against the Government’s goals.
Funding is now more widely channelled through Whitehall, but no department is in charge of measuring how well the money is used, according to the National Audit Office.
The LBC presenter was not happy that taxpayers’ money was being sent to certain regimes across the world, insisting the system as an “utter shambles”.
He was less than happy about British money being sent to regimes who could possibly use the money against Britain in the future.
Mr Farage blast: “We’ve been giving money to Argentina who still have a claim of the Falkland Islands.
“And they have been buying fighter jets from China, so we’ve actually been giving money to a regime that could use some of that money to fund military jets to fight against our people!”
He added: “We’ve been giving money to Iran. We’ve been giving money to China and hold on to the chair – we’ve been giving money to Mugabe’s Zimbabwe.”
Mr Farage moved onto Theresa May, who claimed she didn’t know the extent of funding North Korea receives from the UK’s foreign aid budget.
After playing a clip of the Prime Minister dodging a question on the subject, the presenter said: “What the Prime Minister was really saying was, ‘I’m sorry, I haven’t got a clue, I’ve no idea where we spend the foreign aid budget, I just support it because it’s part of the virtue signalling of being a modern politician’.
