Cheap flights to Argentina for £299: Norwegian launches landmark new route from UK

NORWEGIAN AIR has launched a landmark new route from London to Argentina with the cheapest prices on the market.

The budget Scandinavian airline has revealed a game changing partnership with Argentina. Norwegian is launching a direct long-haul flight to the South American nation, with far cheaper prices than any other airline on the market.

The new schedule will start on February 14 next year, with a weekly service of four flights year-round. London to Buenos Aires fares will start at £299 one way. British Airways is the only airline to currently fly the near-14 hour journey direct. The cost of a one way ticket with BA on February 14 2018 is £1,912.

Passengers will travel from London Gatwick to Buenos Aires Ezeiza International Airport on new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

Norwegian CEO Bjorn Kjos said: “With our new Argentina route we are offering UK passengers more choice and lower fares to another exciting global destination.

“Buenos Aires is a cosmopolitan capital city with something to offer all travellers and Norwegian has fares to suit all budgets. From Europe, the USA, Asia and now South America, our long-haul network is going global and the UK will continue to be at the heart of our ambitious plans for expansion. We also see huge potential in the Argentinian market so this is not only a major milestone as our first South American route, it is also a first step towards ambitious plans for international and domestic growth in Argentina.”

UK visitors to Argentina spiked by seven per cent in 2016, according to the country’s ambassador in London.

Carlos Sersale di Cerisano added: “Our plan is to boost figures from 5.7 to 9 million tourists by 2020 to promote our country, its culture, nature and products.

“This announcement by Norwegian is key to improve our country´s international air connectivity for a better integration to the world.”

The flights will depart Gatwick on Mondays and Fridays at 8.15am, as well as Wednesdays and Saturdays at 9.30pm.

It’s part of a sizeable expansion for the Scandinavian airline in the UK in recent years.
