China’s Commerce Ministry says trade war should be ended by removing tariffs

China is still calling for the U.S. to roll back tariffs as part of any “phase one” agreement, as trade negotiations between the world’s two largest economies drag on.“If both sides reach a phase one agreement, the level of tariff rollback will fully reflect the importance of the phase one agreement,” China’s Ministry of Commerce spokesperson Gao Feng said in Mandarin.

China takes cautious steps with new tariffs, leaving most to December

China pushed ahead Sunday with increased duties of between 5% to 10% on a variety of major American exports, including soybeans and crude oil. The Chinese side has called for the cancellation of all additional tariffs as part of a trade agreement.

Trade tensions have had a ‘significant’ impact on China, IMF says

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) lowered its 2019 growth forecast for the world’s second-largest economy to 6.2% from 6.3% on Wednesday. “The trade tensions have had an impact, significant, but in our view, so far contained,” Kenneth Kang, deputy director of the Asia-Pacific Department at the IMF and leader of the visiting team, told CNBC in an interview Wednesday.

China finally gets long sought-after endorsement as MSCI adds stocks to emerging markets index

MSCI said Tuesday it plans to add 222 China A Large Cap stocks to its benchmark emerging markets index on a gradual basis beginning next year. This was the fourth-straight year MSCI was considering adding the mainland-traded stocks. The Deutsche X-trackers Harvest CSI 300 China A-Shares ETF (ASHR) traded more than 2 percent higher in extended trading following the decision.
